Compared to the origininal this reissue does not sound as good ... biggest mistake was not to use a bigger space on each side. The runout is too long, the mastering therefore to low. My copy does not have much crackling, but you can hear the background "rumble-sound" of the groove when you use a sharp stylus.

Sounds compressed, looking at the runouts i noticed a lot of unused space. The result is a very silent release, but i'm glad there's not much background noise. Use a sensitive pickup like the Ortofon 2M black.

I give a chance on this version because is one of my favorites albums and is very cheap.. My feelings about the quality is somewhere in the middle.. If you compare it with the ugly remastered CD 1998, this version sound a different album.. The sound is more on the original side.. The bass is softer here and not distract you like the 1998.. But if you compare it with the original LP, this version is very very weak.. The original is miles ahead.. It seems here the remastered version kill any explosion of the album and the true atmosphere like always.. The original can fill your roam with music.. Can cover you for fun.. You feel you are inside the music.. But here this version seems weak.. The sound struggle to come out.. Not have the power and the explosion like the original. And that is the truth.. If you want to listen the real album and the realistic music must find the original somewhere. The difference are massive. But if you cant do that, this version is a second good choice.. Better have this than the 1998 remastered..

Absolutely fabulous version of the album. The center labels are beautiful and the sound quality is superb.

I've listened to this reissue over and over (probably because it's my favorite album), and I have compared it to other issues. The result is this one is very very solid sounding. Excellent bass, guitar solos are crisp, and a Bruce sounds amazing. My recommendation> Add this copy to your collection!

From all Maiden's reissues, this one wins the first place for the most pixelated of the lot. They really messed up here, the original cover always looked a bit tame in my opinion, and obviously not as detailed as other Riggs's artworks, but the scan they used for this reissue looks rather bad and blurry... Really not great.I had a strange problem with this album. First one I bought looked almost used and dusty, and had awful cracklings all over. It sounded like VG second-hand copy. Absolutely incredible. I decided to bring it back to my local store and ask for a replacement, the other copy (still the one I have), sounded much better, still noisy with occasional crackling but not disturbing anymore. From all Maiden's reissues I own, this one is the most noisy of the lot, yet nothing really awful.Soundwise, it's pretty fine, they used the original masters for these reissues and did a proper vinyl mastering, and you can tell it easily. I can't compare it to the original unfortunately but I have no doubt it's certainly better, still, this copy is far from bad to me. If you want a mint copy of this album go for this one, otherwise, look for an original, but for a decent price, this is a pretty good deal.

Believe me I got this it sounds awful compared to the original. The original was direct metal mastered and sounds bright clear and loud. The reissue sounds awful dull and quiet like I'm listening to a worn out cassette. I use a Trio linear tracking turn table with Audio Technica cart and it real lets you know what's good or bad. I got a copy of slayer reign in blood album 180g reissue it is amazing and it really is from the original master because i had it on vinyl in 1985 and on Angel of death It had a funny little drop out in the recording it was not on the cd. but it is on the 180g reissue so slayer reissues good maiden ones bad.
Gavikelv
one of maiden's best albums but this reissue sounds very dull and lifeless when compared to the original pressing .
TheSuspect
I agree, very low volume, bad remaster, poor cover design quality.
