This album is OK... It is a definite step up from both Ultimate Club Mix releases earlier in the year. This one is more like the previous editions as it is effectively the 1998 mainstream release. As a whole there are many positives that certainly outshine others, but there is obviously room for some improvement as well. The mixing is still done by St. Peter and Heaven as with most Club Mix albums, and the ordering of the songs is also good in some areas.

The first CD is my least favourite of the two, and it goes along the pop side of music for almost all of it. In saying that, it does have David Morales' Needin' You and Karen Ramiraz's Lookin' For Love along with Run DMC and Africa Bambaataa Vs Carpe Diem's Got To Get Up (Eddie Lock & Dylan Burns Mix). So it is not a complete loss, but I do not usually enjoy CD's that don't progress into heavy club and trance later on, so this one is OK, but it is not great.

The second disc would seem like the kind of music that I am into, which is mostly correct seeing as it is club like and contains trance near the end. The problem with this however is that the music they've included isn't mixed well and there are some duds like Baby Bump's Burning and underwhelming Tall Paul remix of Beachball by Nalin & Kane. Seriously, why could they not have used the original version? For whatever lazy reason, they've included Cafe Del Mar 98 (Original Three N One Remix) once again when it was already featured on '97 volume 3. The rest is alright, not bad, but not great and the flow is mediocre, with a lot of that being down to the average mixing.

I probably would not really recommend this as it just doesn't qualify enough to be good, but it definitely isn't bad by any means. It's average from start to finish, and would recommend In The Mix 98 or Best Club Anthems III over this as they both have superb mixing.

I feel a bit unfair giving this 2 stars, the music is pretty good across both CDs but what lets it down is as a 'mix compiltaion'
It's mixed together, loosely, fast and with little thought. As long as two tracks are 'roughly in time' it'll do, doesn't appear to be much thought into any sort of journey, just bung one song after another.
Both CDs are identical in this sense and whilst it is a pretty strong tracklist for 1998 there are better offerings out there that more thought has gone into . Like In The Mix 98.
My ratings system:
(234 out of 500): even though I liked the tracklisting on both the cobbled together nature of the cd lets it down.
